Artist’s Statement:

Photo layering – I create these large abstract images by digitally layering entire photos to reveal unique textures, colors and intricacies. The layering process is one of experimentation and discovery rather than an attempt to direct a piece toward some pre-conceived vision. The layers interact with a central male figure to enhance and inform the emotion of the piece.

Male Photography – I am drawn to the partnering of beautiful masculinity with raw, vulnerable emotion. In this I strive to see beyond his surface magnificence and find something even more rich and complex. These photos are sometimes emotional, sometimes playful, and sometimes disturbing. They always come from some genuine part of me and my life experience.

Macro Photography – I love to explore the world of the ordinary from new and unique perspectives. Rusty, weather worn and industrial is usually my aesthetic here. This work enjoys the playful mystery of subject and dimension. It boldly celebrates the two themes that carry throughout all of my work: texture and contrast.
